Department of Physics

      The Department of Physics has been providing quality education since its inception in 1992, and has established itself as one of the most preferred departments amongst the affiliated colleges of Osmania University for M.Sc. Physics.

      The Department offers a full-time two years post-graduate degree course in Physics with specialization in Optoelectronics. The students are admitted through the common entrance test conducted by the Osmania University.

      The program provides the students a comprehensive perspective and in-depth training in the areas of optoelectronics and optical fiber communications and students are trained thoroughly with the necessary theory and have hands-on experience and technical skills that are essential for the budding physicists of the future. This is perhaps the only such course offering the students one of the most rigorous optoelectronics course in the country, laying equal stress on both theory and experiment.

      The Department currently has five well-qualified faculty members with proven teaching and research excellence and some of them have worked in industries before. The members of the faculty have specialized training in various branches of Physics giving a nice balance in teaching between general and special subjects All of them have worked in premier institutions in this country and outside.

      The Department has got a computer laboratory to train the students in modern computational methods and computer programming. All the students are provided with INTERNET facility and are encouraged to access unlimited resources available in the form of subject literature, e-journals, books and for general reference.

      Every year, a reasonable numbers of students qualify NET, GATE and other national and state exams. The students from this Department are placed in many reputed firms through the placement cell. The students are well settled in the private as well as government sectors; in India as well as abroad.

      Topical seminars by eminent people from various institutes are arranged regularly to inculcate interest in the subject and create research-awareness in the students.In addition to these, seminars on Personality development have also been arranged to help students for a successful transition to professional life.The department also encourages students to celebrate National days and organize cultural programmes.
